Academic Medicine continues to evolve and is impacted by many factors, many of which are difficult, if not impossible to control. This current environment and its dynamics require leaders including Deans, Chairs, Vice Chairs, Center, Program and Institute Directors and Division Chiefs to be prepared to lead in a different way than their predecessors.Â
Our Academic Medicine Leadership Mastery Program is specifically designed to fill the gaps and provide academic medicine leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to lead effectively.
Â
The reality is that most who attain leadership roles in academic medicine are not fully prepared for the leadership responsibilities of these roles. Although all possess strong competence in their subject matter expertise, most academic medicine leaders have not been sufficiently trained in leadership skills. Competencies such as building and leading a team, personnel challenges, balancing competing goals and financial management, negotiating with stakeholders, or effectively managing the financial health of their scope of responsibility, are not included in typical curricula. The Leadership Mastery Program is designed to fill this gap and provide leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools to successfully navigate the complex organizational and team dynamics they encounter each day.
Leaders who hold these critical roles cannot rely only on their past accomplishments. They must craft powerful leadership CVs that position them and their teams for success in today’s environment.
Connect the Dots’ Leadership Mastery Program is designed specifically for leaders in academic medicine who are responsible for a division, program, or a core component of a clinical or basic science department in the School of Medicine.
The program brings together peer participants and is an engaging combination of lectures, group discussions, case studies and the unique opportunity to work through current challenges with a cohort and facilitator experts.
Finally, each participant will receive individual professional executive coaching; they will meet with their coaches after each session and apply the learnings to their specific leadership development goals.
Academic Medicine Leadership Mastery Program provides a unique and innovative solution. The dynamic and interactive program is led by highly experienced academic medicine leadership development experts.
Connect the Dots’ unique Leadership Mastery Program provides an intentional combination of facilitated learning, group discussions, case-studies, and reflective and practical assignments that allow participants to apply learnings to their specific opportunities. As a participant, you’ll grow your professional network, enhance your ability to lead with confidence, and create impactful relationships that support both your professional goals and your organization’s objectives.
This program is designed for leaders whose portfolio includes a combination of administrative responsibilities, which includes building and leading a team of faculty and staff, managing a budget, and driving outcomes for his or her division or program within a clinical or basic science department.
